DCLT’s August 2026 Newsletter celebrates a summer of progress, innovation, and community as we continue Bringing Durham Home. This edition highlights the unveiling of our first modular Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) on Proctor Street, new permanently affordable homeownership opportunities at Carpenter Falls, and the launch of our Sponsor-A-Home campaign supporting net-zero homes on Alma Street and the CLTplus One project on Grant Street. We also spotlight Bilingual Homebuyer Program Associate Maria Hernandez and look ahead to our September 26 Office Building Dedication & West End Community Celebration, commemorating DCLT’s debt-free headquarters, 50 years of service, and the community partnerships helping shape our next chapter.

This month, DCLT celebrated meaningful progress through community partnerships, sustainable housing, and neighborhood engagement. Highlights include support from RTI International for the Ashe Street Community Garden, the groundbreaking of Alma Street Commons, participation in Durham Pride, our Summer Sip N’ See ADU Open House, and welcoming Durham YouthWorks interns—all advancing our mission of Bringing Durham Home.

This month, DCLT celebrates 50 years of impact through the successful Bringing Durham Home Gala while continuing to expand affordable homeownership opportunities across Durham. From the groundbreaking of Alma Street Commons to National Homeownership Month and upcoming community events, we remain committed to building stronger neighborhoods, creating pathways to homeownership, and ensuring Durham remains a place where everyone can thrive.
